Melissa Barbieri returns to Southport Galleries with fellow Connecticut artists, Ann Rechtermann and Nina Gagarin in a specially curated exhibition for the holiday season. Barbieri’s provocative new work evokes the heavens and the sea in her signature fresco and silver leaf motif. Her life-size figurative paintings include a mermaid on a beach encrusted in starfish and seashells and netting.
Ann Rechtermann’s impressive array of smaller works in silver and gold leaf explore foliage, fruits, sea life and animals.
Nina Gagarin recently relocated her decorative arts atelier in Palm Beach back to Greenwich. The exhibition includes her signature showpiece, a dramatic painting of a vivid, giant clam shell against an inky background.
