My work is deeply rooted in the physical nature of art making—I choose subjects that are simple and clear and I pay meticulous attention to the details in order to arrange the minute changes and slight disparities inherent in their surface into expressive relationships.  I’m very interested in the minutiae of perceptual experience and I wish to suggest both interior and exterior realities, and to achieve a serene quality.  I often use repetitive effects, as in the petals on a rose, leaves on a plant, or an array of cherries on a plate to suggest movement, spatial depth and abstract beauty, in an effort to move my work to a non-corporeal, universal and timeless realm.
